Our Story

RockDove was initially created for five birdwatchers from the Los Angeles Audubon Society in 2002. Originally a shoe repair workshop in Santa Monica, California that specialized in resoling hiking boots, we transitioned to creating slippers for those looking for quality indoor footwear. Our dedication to comfort and durability led us to experiment with different materials, including memory foam and gel insoles, to provide relief to tired feet.

The Experiment

In a region where sunny beaches and flip flops are prevalent, the attention to slipper design was lacking. With our expertise in crafting comfortable and long-lasting footwear, we quickly gained popularity. Customers responded positively to our experiment, resulting in numerous orders. The name RockDove, inspired by the common pigeon seen on the Santa Monica Pier, symbolizes our origins and values.

Our commitment to comfort led us to adopt high-density memory foam early on. By collaborating with local sleep experts, we designed a multi-layered foam insole for our slippers. The meticulous adjustments made to the foam's density and firmness ensure a perfect balance of comfort and support. Today, each RockDove slipper features a pressure-mapped memory foam layer, a supportive foam for added firmness, and an anti-shock EVA layer for optimal comfort.
